Podcasters 開咪!
Podcasters 開咪!is a project committed to enhancing public understanding of the diverse experiences within Hong Kong society, actively working to eliminate harmful, preconceived stereotypes. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the situations and needs of vulnerable groups, shedding light on the challenges they face in their daily lives. The goal is to cultivate mutual understanding among individuals from various backgrounds.
Additionally, the project supports individuals from different racial communities in overcoming language barriers, specifically addressing the confidence gap that hinders their ability to speak, despite their comprehension. It also emphasises the development of communication skills in professional environments, improving job opportunities and fostering inclusivity.

Melissa
Host
Hey there! I'm Melissa. I was born and raised in Switzerland, but my family ties to Hong Kong have always made me feel a special connection to this city. I love traveling and learning about the stories of the people I meet along the way. Although I have been living in the city for a couple of years now, I feel like I have so much more to learn about Hong Kong and its people. Through our podcast, I'm thrilled to connect with diverse individuals from Hong Kong, deepening my understanding, sharing and discovering more about the captivating cultures that make this city so unique!

Kayna
Host
Hi! I’m Kayna!
A Half Filipino and Pakistani coconut 😭
I believe in the saying that when life gives you lemons, make lemon tea - Hong Kong style 凍檸茶.
I had the opportunity to participate in Viu TV’s 唔鹹唔淡香港指南 (Non-Native Hong Kong Guide) with the support and guidance of explorer. This experience allowed me to showcase my Hong Kong, Pakistani, Filipino and Indian dishes to the hosts, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
The idea of sharing my experiences through such an engaging medium was truly fulfilling. I am particularly excited about the podcast series, as it will enable me to tell our story as an ethnic minority living in Hong Kong while connecting with our guests and audience in a fun way.
The podcast series provides diverse-background individuals the voice to share their stories, this platform creates a common ground for inclusion, engagement and understanding.
Husnain
Host
Hi! I am Husnain. I am Pakistani but born and raised in Hong Kong! I am currently working as an English teacher and I love football and travelling! Travelling is so addictive, once you start travelling, you just can't stop! Few years ago I quit my job to travel around the world for 1.5 years! My goal is to reach 100 countries some day!
Although many people says Hong Kong is an International and multi cultural city, I think Hong Kong is not living up to its name. People of different communities are still living in their own bubble and there's a lack of understanding of each other.
I am trying to speak out more, hoping to make Hong Kong a more multicultural and inclusive city!
